My Mission Is Simple.

I Help Good People Win.

Helping good people win. That’s it, four words. But…

Who’s good? Almost everyone, especially on a typical day when nothing major is going wrong.

Who’s bad? Almost all of us at some time, especially when faced with stress.

When faced with stress (or even on a good day), do any of these sound like you?

  • You self-criticize and begin to doubt your own abilities.

  • You experience fear, worry, overwhelm, doubt, or some other emotion associated with powerlessness.

  • You withdraw, avoid, or disengage. Maybe you feel stuck and have difficulty making decisions.

  • You replay events in your mind, wishing you had acted differently and are very self-judgmental.

If this is you, your response to stress may be preventing you from achieving your goals. You are a good person, but you are not winning.

Or maybe you respond to stress differently, more defiantly. Do these resonate more for you?

  • You take charge because you are the only one who can get the job done.

  • You feel anger, resentment, entitlement, frustration, or some other conflict-related emotion.

  • Your anger and frustration makes it hard to let things go.

  • You lose trust in those around you, and those people fail to live up to your expectations.

  • You believe you have to fight for yourself because no one else will.

If this sounds more like you, you are likely getting things done, but at the expense of group dynamics, organizational health, relationships, and, even, your own health. You may be perceived as a bully or just hard to work with. You may be winning in some sense, but, in these circumstances, you’re not the good guy.

These two types of energetic responses are completely normal under stress, and show up in smaller doses even on our good days. That can serve a purpose if you are choosing the reactions carefully and consciously, but they have real downsides too.

The first type of reaction says “I lose”, the second type says “I win, you lose.” My mission is to help you achieve your goals through much more humane reactions: I win, you win, the organization/community wins.

Helping good people win.

Why do I care about this mission?

I enjoy helping individuals achieve their goals and find fulfillment in the process. But my mission ties to a larger vision. I’d like to make the world a better place. And that means promoting a more humane style of leadership and inter-relating. This begins with holding ourselves accountable for our own actions no matter what the circumstance.
